January 4, 2012 – Whaleyville, Maryland – A collision between a commercial tour bus and a passenger vehicle on Tuesday, January 3 sent 12 people to the hospital with injuries.
A report from The Baltimore Sun states that the incident occurred around 4 p.m., near the Maryland-Delaware state line, on Route 610. A Honda Civic was driving near Peerless Road when it was struck from behind by a Holloway Tours bus carrying several passengers.
There were 12 victims injured in total, but none sustained immediate life-threatening injuries. They were all transported to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin for treatment. Police are investigating the cause of the accident and charges are pending.
Commercial passenger busses can pose a dangerous risk to both their passengers and nearby vehicles and pedestrians. These busses are rarely equipped with seatbelts and passengers can be easily trapped in a rollover crash. If you’re injured by the negligence of a passenger bus driver, a Maryland accident attorney may be necessary to guide you through the process of seeking a personal injury claim.
