July 13, 2011 - Catonsville, Md. - According to an accident report at ABC 2 News, a young girl was killed in Catonsville Friday night, after she was hit by a car while attempting to cross the street.
Investigators, with the Baltimore County Police Department, say the victim was attempting to cross Baltimore National Pike when she was hit by a car near the intersection with Johnnycake Road, shortly before 9:30 p.m. The victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have identified her as a 14-year-old girl from Catonsville.
The driver of the Volkswagen Passat remained at the scene, and police say he or she is not facing any charges at this time. The driver has not been publicly identified.
Baltimore County Police are still conducting an investigation into this fatal pedestrian accident. Authorities have not said if the victim was in a crosswalk at the time of the crash and it appears that the teenage girl was walking alone when she was hit.
