Teen Girl Dies When Stolen Car Crashes in Baltimore Wreck

May 27, 2011 - Baltimore, Md. - A teenage girl was killed, and 3 other people suffered personal injuries, in a serious car accident Thursday, May 19. According to a report at WBAL Baltimore, the teen was a passenger in a stolen car that slammed into a tree at high speed during a Baltimore wreck. 

Police say the victim, a 17-year-old girl from Baltimore, was riding in a 1991 Lexus when the driver lost control of the vehicle on Belair Road and crashed into a tree. Due to the severity of the crash, authorities believe the vehicle was traveling at high speeds. The victim was riding in the backseat.

Pictures from the scene show that the Lexus was almost completely crushed in the accident. The victims were trapped inside the wreckage, and first responders were forced to use the ‘jaws of life' to extricate the passengers.

It took nearly 1 hour to free the victims from the wreckage. The 17-year-old girl was rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Three other individuals in the car were also injured, including two 19-year-old men and a 19-year-old woman.

Both men were admitted to the hospital in critical condition, while the female passenger suffered minor injuries. Police say the Lexus involved in the crash was stolen from an apartment building in Parkville.

The victim attended the 12^th grade at Frances M. Wood High School, and she was due to graduate in the coming weeks. She leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter.
