June 6, 2011 - Baltimore, Md. - A Sparks man was killed on Friday morning when he was involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident on the Baltimore Beltway. According to a report at WBAL Baltimore, the driver was ejected from the car during the rollover, which occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on Friday.
Police say the victim was driving on Interstate 695, near Dulaney Valley Road, when he lost control of his vehicle, crashed into a guardrail and rolled over several times onto the shoulder. The driver, a 24-year-old man from Sparks, was thrown from the vehicle and trapped under the wreckage. First responders arrived on the scene quickly after the car accident, and they attempted to extricate the driver from underneath the car. However, he was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead by paramedics.
Maryland State Police are still investigating this fatal car accident, but they believe driver error may have contributed. Based on their investigation, authorities believe the victim may have been driving too fast on an exit ramp, which caused him to lose control of the car. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
