May 31, 2011 - Baltimore, Md. - A Baltimore man suffered personal injuries on Saturday after he was hit by a car that was targeted in a drive-by shooting. According to a report at the Baltimore Sun, the pedestrian was waiting for a bus in Northwest Baltimore when he was struck shortly before 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Police say the victim was standing at a bus stop near the intersection of Liberty Heights Avenue and Eldorado Avenue when he was hit by a black Infiniti sedan. The car then struck a utility pole during the Baltimore crash.
The pedestrian has not been identified, but police say he was transported to Sinai Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Authorities believe he will survive.
An investigation determined that the driver who caused this accident was targeted in a drive-by shooting moments before the crash. Witnesses told police that occupants of a separate car fired shots at the Infiniti near the intersection of Hillsdale Road and Liberty Heights Avenue before fleeing the scene.
The driver of the Infiniti was shot multiple times in the chest and legs, but was able to drive several blocks before hitting the pedestrian. The driver was already dead by the time first responders arrived on the scene. His identity has not been released.
