September 16, 2011 - Mount Airy, Md. - After a single-vehicle car accident, on Thursday, September 15, that landed a car in a tree, 2 people were sent to Shock Trauma.
WBALTV reports that the accident happened early Thursday morning on Route 27. The vehicle was travelling southbound on the roadway when it suddenly crossed into the northbound lane, went over an embankment and crashed into a tree. The car was still up in the tree when officials arrived on the scene.
It was concluded that 2 occupants of the vehicle were injured in the accident. Both had to be flown to Shock Trauma immediately following the accident.
The driver of the vehicle, Gerardo Lucio-Preciado, was said to be in critical condition. His passenger, Juan Jesus Preciado-Torres, was listed as stable.
Route 27 was blocked for about 3 hours while investigators and emergency response crews were at work at the scene. The cause of the accident remains to be determined.
