August 17, 2011 - Arnold, Md. - A man who caused an accident in July and fled the scene, was caught and arrested on Tuesday, August 9.
WBALTV reports that the accident in question occurred at about 7:45 p.m., July 26, on East College Parkway. William Kirby, 25, of Annapolis, was driving on the roadway when he struck a bicyclist. Kirby drove on without stopping.
The bicyclist, 50, was thrown onto the road's shoulder and had to be transported to Shock Trauma to be treated for his or her injuries.
According to police, a photo taken by a witness was used to locate Kirby's vehicle. The picture showed a blue Hyundai Elantra that had damage to its exterior and was carrying 2 passengers.
Detectives found Kirby when he took the vehicle to a repair shop in Jessup. The vehicle has been taken in as evidence. Kirby was arrested and taken to Anne Arundel County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $75,000 bail.
