May 11, 2011 - Glen Burnie, Md. - A Glen Burnie resident was killed over the weekend in a single-vehicle accident. According to a report at the Baltimore Sun, police are still trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle.
The fatal Glen Burnie accident occurred around 7 p.m. on Saturday. Police say the victim was driving on Scott Avenue when he lost control of his 1977 Chevrolet Corvette near the intersection with Cooper Road.
The car careened off the road and crashed into a tree on the shoulder. Police say the driver was on his way home when the accident occurred, as he lived nearby on the 200 block of Scott Avenue.
The driver, a 66-year-old man from Glen Burnie, suffered serious personal injuries. He was initially transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where doctors determined that his life-threatening injuries required a trauma hospital.
He was later transferred to Maryland Shock Trauma Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. There was a passenger in the car who escaped serious injury; police have not released his or her identity, saying only that the passenger was under the age of 18. Police are still trying to determine what caused this fatal crash.
