July 21, 2011 - Baltimore, Md. - According to a report at WBAL Baltimore, a local music teacher was killed on Saturday when his van was struck by a stolen car in West Baltimore.
Police say the victim was driving his van, on Belle Avenue, when he was broadsided by a white Mercedes, near the intersection with Ferndale Avenue, around 2 p.m. The victim was ejected from the van and suffered serious head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The victim was identified as a 60-year-old man who taught music in the Baltimore City Public School system for nearly 40 years. He was most recently employed at Winston Middle School, where he was the band director in addition to his regular teaching duties.
The driver who caused this accident hasn't been publicly identified. Police say the white Mercedes was stolen, around 3 a.m. on Saturday, in a robbery on Liberty Heights Avenue. The victim in that crime was shot several times. One of the passengers in the Mercedes was discovered later that day with a broken leg, which he suffered during the car accident. No charges have been filed yet.
