August 4, 2011 - Crofton, Md. - A Glen Burnie man was killed on Sunday, shortly before 2 a.m., when he was involved in a car accident caused by an unlicensed teenager. According to a report at the Baltimore Sun, the teenage driver had a learner's permit but wasn't supervised by an adult at the time of the accident.
Anne Arundel County police say the victim, a 63-year-old man from Glen Burnie, was driving a Ford Crown Victoria on Route 3. He drove through the intersection of Route 3 and Davidsonville Road, where he was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee turning left. The victim was transported by ambulance to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after the accident.
The driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 19-year-old girl from Millersville, was driving with a learner's permit, which requires adult supervision. She and her passenger, another teen, suffered minor injuries. Police say she was driving the SUV without the owner's permission.
Police are still investigating this fatal accident. They haven't determined if either of the vehicles ran a red light in the intersection.
