Drunk Driving Accident Injures 2 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland

Anne Arundel County, Maryland - Police believe alcohol played a role in a car accident last week that sent 2 Maryland residents to the hospital. According to a report at the Baltimore Sun, the victims suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash, which occurred in the late hours of Thursday night.

Police say the victims were traveling in a 2008 Mini Cooper in Pasadena. The driver was speeding on Solley Road when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a light pole near the intersection with Powhatan Beach Road.

The vehicle was severely damaged in the high-speed wreck, and first responders were forced to cut the victims out of the car in order to provide medical assistance. The driver has been identified as a 42-year-old woman, while her passenger was a 24-year-old man; both are from Glen Burnie.

Both victims suffered serious personal injuries that may be life-threatening. They were transported by ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Hospital, where their conditions are currently unknown.

An investigation determined that the driver was speeding at the time of the crash and likely navigated a turn in the road too quickly. The driver was also under the influence of alcohol, although her blood-alcohol content was not released. The Anne Arundel County police continue to investigate.
