Car Accident in Anne Arundel County Leaves Man Critically Injured

September 22, 2011 - Anne Arundel County, Md. - A man was hospitalized following an early morning car accident on Monday, September 19.

WBALTV reports that the accident happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Deale Beach Road, near Deale Churchton Road. According to Anne Arundel County police, a vehicle was travelling on the roadway when its driver lost control, causing the vehicle to run off the road and crash into a tree.

The driver of the vehicle, Brian Stickell, 20, of Deale, was injured in the accident. He had to be taken to Prince George's County Hospital for treatment. Stickell is said to be in critical condition.

Stickell's vehicle was the only one involved in the accident. No further injuries have been reported in connection with this crash.

Police said that speed may have been a primary factor in the crash. Whether or not Stickell was under the influence of drugs or alcohol remains to be determined. The crash is under ongoing investigation.
