July 20, 2011 - Baltimore County, Md. - According to a report at Patch.com, a 7-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car in Baltimore County on Monday, shortly before 10:30 a.m.
Police say the child was riding his bike along North Point Road, in Edgemere, when he was hit by a car traveling in the southbound lane. The boy was riding northbound against traffic at the time of the accident, but police haven't said if he was in a bike lane.
A representative from the Baltimore County Police Department described the boy's injuries as "very serious." He was airlifted to the trauma center at Johns Hopkins Children's Center, where his condition is currently unknown. The child hasn't been identified, and police haven't said if he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The identity of the driver also hasn't been released. Investigators say the driver assisted the child after the accident, and it doesn't appear that charges will be filed. The investigation is ongoing and Baltimore County police will be interviewing potential witnesses.
