September 13, 2011 - Baltimore, Md. - Two police officers on motorcycles were injured when they collided with a car on Sunday, September 11.
ABC 2 News reports that the accident happened at about 11:20 a.m. near Eastern Avenue and Wilbur Road. The 2 officers were en route to escort NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to Sunday's football game when the officer's motorcycle's collided with a civilian car.
Both officers were thrown from their motorcycles and slid 20 to 30 feet along the roadway.
Both officers suffered road rash injuries and had to be taken to Maryland Shock Trauma immediately following the accident. Both are said to be in stable condition. Their identities haven't been publically released.
Reports conclude that the driver of the car was free of injury. The driver's identity is also unknown.
Goodell wasn't involved in the accident. Additional officers were sent to complete the escort. Police said that the escort was requested by the NFL as a precaution given the high security risk of the day's game and the September 11 anniversary.
