September 7, 2011 - Anne Arundel County, Md. - Seven people were taken to area hospitals Sunday, September 4, after an accident involving 2 cars and a pedestrian.
The Baltimore Sun reports that the accident happened on northbound Route 3 near Waugh Chapel Road. A pair of teenage girls were attempting to walk across the roadway when one of the girls was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
The car stopped immediately after hitting the girl resulting in a second vehicle then crashing into the stopped car.
The girl, 15, was taken to Johns Hopkins Children's hospital. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.
A 30-year-old man who was driving one of the vehicles involved in the accident had to be transported to Prince George's County Trauma Center. His injuries have been described as serious but not life-threatening.
Five more people, including children and adults, were transported to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center for treatment. There's no word on their medical conditions.
Another man refused treatment at the scene.
County Police are investigation the accident.
