July 14, 2011 - Severna Park, Md. - Two Maryland teenagers suffered serious personal injuries Tuesday, when they were hit by a car while crossing the street near Annapolis. According to a report at HometownAnnapolis.com, the pedestrian accident occurred just before 9 p.m. in Severna Park.
Police say the victims were heading to the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Department carnival. The teens were attempting to cross Ritchie Highway near Earleigh Heights Road when they were hit by a Chevrolet Cavalier traveling southbound.
Both teens, a 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man, suffered personal injury and were airlifted to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment. The female victim is in critical condition, while the 19-year-old man has been stabilized in serious condition.
Police say the victims were not in a crosswalk when they were hit, and their dark clothing prevented the driver from seeing them. It does not appear that any charges will be filed.
