February 10, 2012 – Baltimore, Md. – An officer and a civilian were injured when a police cruiser hit a pole on Wednesday night, February 8.
A WBALTV new story reveals that the incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. in the intersection where Edmondson Avenue and Franklin Street meet. According to City Police Detective Jeremy Silbert, the police cruiser crashed into a pole at the intersection.
The officer, whose identity has not been released, was injured in the accident. The officer was transported to a local hospital to be medically treated for minor injuries.
The civilian also suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Exactly how the civilian was hurt is unclear. The civilian may have been hit by the vehicle or by debris from the crash. The identity of the civilian is also unknown.
The accident is being thoroughly investigated by local police.

February 6, 2012 – Cockeysville, Md. – A woman suffered fatal injuries in a single-vehicle car crash in the morning of Saturday, February 4.
WBALTV reports that the accident happened at about 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of York Road and Thornton Mill Road. Police said that a 2003 Ford Explorer appears to have been driving northbound when it veered into the southbound lanes.
The Explorer then crashed into a guardrail and continued to slide until her car finally came to a stop on a nearby hillside.
The Explorer’s driver, Tamara Sue Miller Poretsky, 49, of Sparks, was thrown from the vehicle when it crashed. Poretsky was confirmed dead at the accident site.
Officials said that excessive speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash. Investigators said that they will not know anything more until they get the results of the toxicology tests.
The Baltimore County Police Department is investigating.

January 20, 2012 – Baltimore, Md. – One person was killed when a car slid and crashed on an icy road in an accident in Baltimore on Monday, January 16.
WBALTV reports that the accident happened at about 10:45 p.m. Monday on Hughes Shop Road in Baltimore. According to officials with the Maryland State Police, a car was driving along the roadway when it slid on the ice and collided with a utility.
The vehicle’s driver, a man from Westminster, was severely injured in the accident. He was rushed to Carroll Hospital Center immediately following the accident. He later died in the hospital.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident. No further injuries or fatalities have been reported in connection with this crash.
The cause of the accident remains to be determined.

January 12, 2012 – Annapolis, Md. – A 2-vehicle car accident in anAnnapolis intersection sent 4 people, including a 12-year-old girl who was critically injured, to the hospital on Monday, January 9.
A report from WBALTV states that the incident occurred at about 7:15 p.m. on Bestgate Road, near the Route 50 on-ramp. According to investigators, a Chevrolet pickup truck was travelling southbound on Bestgate Road when a van pulled into the intersection against a red light. The truck crashed into the van’s passenger side.
A 12-year-old girl in the van was critically injured in the accident. She was taken to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for treatment. The driver of the van, Jill Shores, 43, incurred minor injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck, Kurt Fisher, 26, and his passenger, Allison Fisher, 23, were also injured in the accident. Kurt Fisher was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. Allison Fisher had to be taken to Shock Trauma. She is said to be in stable condition.
Whether or not anyone will be charged in connection with this car accident remains to be determined.

January 4, 2012 – Whaleyville, Maryland – A collision between a commercial tour bus and a passenger vehicle on Tuesday, January 3 sent 12 people to the hospital with injuries.
A report from The Baltimore Sun states that the incident occurred around 4 p.m., near the Maryland-Delaware state line, on Route 610. A Honda Civic was driving near Peerless Road when it was struck from behind by a Holloway Tours bus carrying several passengers.
There were 12 victims injured in total, but none sustained immediate life-threatening injuries. They were all transported to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin for treatment. Police are investigating the cause of the accident and charges are pending.

December 21, 2011 – Howard County, Md. – A single-vehicle accident left a man dead on Sunday, December 18.
WBALTV reports that the accident happened at approximately 12:43 a.m. at the intersection of Old Frederick Road and Weatherstone Drive. According toHowardCounty police, a 2011 Nissan 370Z was travelling eastbound on Old Frederick Road when its driver lost control near the intersection, causing the vehicle to drive off the right side. The Nissan then crashed into a tree and flipped.
The Nissan’s driver, identified as Jong Han Lee, 32, of Ellicott City, was partially ejected from the vehicle when it crashed. Lee was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said that Lee wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Police also said that Lee was travelling at a high rate of speed when he crashed and that speed may have been a factor. Howard County police are still investigating.

December 6, 2011 – Harford County, Md. – A man suffered fatal injuries while 2 more people were injured after 2 vehicles collided head-on during the morning of Sunday, December 4.
The Baltimore Sun reports that the incident occurred on Route 23, just east of Harford Creamery Road, when 2 vehicles were involved in a head-on collision on the road. Officials said that it appears that one of the vehicles crossed the center line and went into the path of the second vehicle. It’s not clear which of the vehicles was at fault.
Donald Van Gosen, 41, suffered fatal wounds in the accident and was declared dead on the scene.
The second vehicles occupants, a 22-year-old man and 21-year-old woman, were injured in the crash. Both were transported toYork Hospital for treatment. They are said to have suffered non life-threatening injuries.
Trooper Q. Dobbins confirmed that adverse weather conditions weren’t a factor in the crash, though fog was thick at the time of the accident. The accident is under ongoing investigation.

December 2, 2011 – Pasadena, Md. – A man was killed when 3 vehicles collided into each other on Monday, November 26.
The Baltimore Sun reports that the accident happened shortly after 7 p.m. on Route 100, near Quarterfield Road. A BMW was driving aggressively and cut off several cars when it merged onto the highway.
According to police, the BMW first crashed into a pick-up truck then rear-ended a Nissan. The Nissan was sent off of the roadway, veered back into traffic and then flipped over. The Nissan crashed to a stop in one of the lanes.
The Nissan’s driver, John Frederick Cornelius, 66, of Fort Washington, was killed in the accident. He was first transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the BMW, Zachary Adam Covington, 25, of Springfield, Va., wasn’t injured in the accident. The pick-up truck’s driver was also uninjured.
No charges have been filed in connection with this accident. The accident continues to be investigated by local authorities.

November 21, 2011 - Frederick County, Md. - A man was killed and 3 more adults and an infant were injured when 3 vehicles collided on Saturday, November 19.
The Washington Post reports that the accident happened at about 3 p.m. on Route 194, near Crum Road. Officials said that a Pontiac was travelling northbound on the roadway when it drifted into the southbound lanes. The Pontiac then sideswiped a Chevrolet Impala before colliding head-on with a Ford Explorer.
The Pontiac's driver, Alan Wisner, 30, of Walkersville, was killed in the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Explorer, Pamela J. Dronesburg, 55, and passenger, Kimberly J. Dronesburg, 19, both of Thurmont, were injured in the accident. Both people had to be airlifted to a shock trauma center. Their injuries were described as non-life threatening and in stable condition.
The driver of the Impala, John A. Early, 46, and an infant passenger, from Dronesburg's vehicle, were both transported to Meritus Medical Center. Both have since been treated and released.
The accident remains under investigation by Maryland State Police.
